FAQ

Non-Covered Services & Fees FAQs

What is non-covered care?

Care not covered by National Health Insurance, for which patients pay the full cost. Vision-correction surgery, some tests, and lenses fall into this category.

Where can I check non-covered fees?

We post non-covered fees in the clinic, and you can check them at the reception desk. The in-clinic posting is the official version.

Are the prices on this page final?

The table shows the maximum cost for each item. Because non-covered items and prices change, the in-clinic posting is the official reference, and you can confirm the standard at the reception desk at the time of your visit.

Can I ask about costs by phone?

We can give you guidance based on the standards posted in the clinic. However, the actual cost depends on your test results and the options you choose, so the amount given at your consultation is the accurate figure.

Can I receive a cost explanation before surgery?

After you complete testing, we explain each item during consultation and proceed after you agree.

Is cataract surgery also non-covered?

The cataract surgery itself is covered by National Health Insurance. However, depending on the lens you choose, such as a multifocal intraocular lens, some items are billed as non-covered. We explain which parts are non-covered item by item during consultation.

How do I get the documents needed for an insurance claim?

They are issued at the reception desk. Requirements vary by applicant; please also check the Certificates page.

Why do non-covered fees differ between hospitals?

Because prices for non-covered items are not set by National Health Insurance, each medical institution sets them independently. The equipment and lenses used and the included test items can differ, so even services with the same name may include different components. We post our non-covered fees in the clinic.

For the same surgery, can the cost differ by person?

It can. The applicable items vary depending on your corneal condition, refractive prescription, and choice of lens. After testing, we explain each item during consultation.

Which items are billed as non-covered?

Vision correction surgeries and multifocal intraocular lenses; some advanced tests such as corneal anterior–posterior surface analysis and optical coherence tomography; IPL treatment; Dream Lens (orthokeratology); and treatment materials such as rinsing and storage solutions are non-covered. Item-by-item standards are posted in the clinic.

Could the amount explained during consultation differ from the in-clinic posted standard?

The in-clinic posting shows item-by-item standards, and the actual cost depends on which items apply. The amount explained after testing during consultation is the amount you will actually pay.

When and how do I pay non-covered costs?

Please check with the reception desk. Because fees vary by the details of your visit, we will confirm them during your consultation.

If I only have tests and do not have surgery, how will I be billed?

Examinations and surgery are billed as separate items, so you will be charged only for the items you receive. Because it depends on which tests you had, you can confirm at the reception desk.

If I had an abnormal finding on a health screening and undergo a detailed examination, is that also non-covered?

Whether it is covered or non-covered (not covered by Korean National Health Insurance) depends on the purpose of the test and the diagnosis. If the purpose is to confirm and treat a disease, National Health Insurance often applies; otherwise, it may be billed as non-covered. We will let you know which applies at the reception desk after your visit.
