FAQ

Treatment Information FAQs

Are you open late in the evening?

We see patients until 19:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays and Fridays, until 18:30; on Saturdays, until 15:30, and there is no lunch break on Saturdays. We are closed on Wednesdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

Who performs the surgery?

Dr. Gye Hyeon Pung, Medical Director, personally performs and manages the entire process before and after surgery. CCTV is in operation in the operating room, and the same doctor handles your examinations and follow-up care.

Can I have implantable lens surgery on the same day as my exam?

If testing shows you are a suitable candidate and your lens does not need to be custom-made overseas, same-day surgery is possible. We do not operate on the same day if your anterior chamber is too shallow, if further observation is needed, or if you have not stopped wearing contact lenses for the required period.

If my vision gets worse again, will you do it again?

Whether revision surgery is possible, and on what conditions, is explained at your consultation.

Can you treat glaucoma and cataracts together?

Two ophthalmologists provide care. Dr. 기현주 sees patients for glaucoma, presbyopia and cataracts, and dry eye.

Do I need to remove my contact lenses before the exam?

Please stop wearing soft lenses 5 days before and hard lenses 7 days before. If you do not observe the discontinuation period, the corneal shape can be altered, which may affect the test results.

Can I drive on the day of a dilated eye exam?

After the exam your eyes may be sensitive to light and your vision blurry, so please avoid driving that day. It helps to come with a companion.

What should I bring for my first visit?

Please bring an ID. If you wear contact lenses, a discontinuation period is needed before testing, so please mention this when making your appointment.

Can I have a consultation in English?

We are a government-registered medical institution for international patients (registration no. M-2021-01-08-6311). We can assist you in Korean, English, and Chinese; please let us know before your visit at +82-2-555-1369.

Can I come alone on the day of surgery, or should someone come with me?

We recommend coming with a companion. Please do not drive yourself on the day of surgery.

When should I come for follow-up after surgery?

It depends on the procedure. For SMILE LASIK, implantable lens surgery, and cataract surgery, we see you the next day and at 1 week, 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months; for One-Point LASEK, at 5 days, 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, and 3 months. The schedule may vary depending on your eye condition.

How long do the exams take?

The time required varies by test. On days you receive a detailed exam, it may take longer; please ask when scheduling and we will guide you.

After surgery, when can I return to daily activities?

It depends on the procedure and varies by individual. With SMILE LASIK, implantable lens surgery, and presbyopic LASIK, you can resume daily activities from the day after surgery; with LASEK, a protective lens is worn for 3 to 5 days. After cataract surgery, light daily activities are possible from the following day.

Do I still need checkups even years after vision correction surgery?

Up to 3 months after surgery, we see you at set times; between 6 months and 1 year, we specifically assess long-term stability, night vision, and dry eye. After that, you can have an annual checkup.

Do I need to tell you about the medications I take before surgery?

Yes, please. Before surgery, we first check any systemic conditions you have and the medications you are taking.
